Legislative Watchdogs go to
Salem!
--by Vanessa Nagel, APLD Oregon
President

On May 8th, 2009 Amy Whitworth and I, along with 2 other
landscape designers and ANLD members Paul Taylor & Gail
Dresner, spent most of the day going to Salem to meet
with the OSLAB (Oregon State Landscape Architect’s
Board) and a member of the OLCB (Oregon Landscape
Contractor’s Board). There we had an opportunity to
promote the ability of designers to continue practicing
as we now practice in Oregon. I stressed the
international nature of APLD, along with the fact that
we promote Certification of our members.

Attached is a photo
of the 4 of us inside the building where we met. The OLCB
representative was particularly interested in the fact
that APLD has a landscape designer Certification
program, stating that it could potentially be a method
of recognizing landscape/garden designers.
