DESIGNER:
Michael McQuiggin
|

Michael
McQuiggin has been immersed in creating
exceptional gardens since 1982.
After pursuing degrees in landscape design and
landscape management, and becoming a licensed
landscape contractor, he established McQuiggin’s
landscape in 1986, and then Incorporated in 2000
changing the business name to McQuiggin’s Inc. |
|
McQuiggin’s Inc. is a 14-member full service
design, installation, and maintenance firm. For
the past 21 years McQuiggin’s has been
installing and maintaining gardens designed by
Michael and other prominent Portland architect
and designers. Projects range from $20,000.00 to
upwards of $250,000.00. From simple plantings to
intensive multi-discipline engineered projects
with multiple subs-contractors.
Continuing
education remains a priority. Michael continues
to challenge himself by taking classes and
substitute teaching classes at Clackamas
Community College, and through seminars and
chapter meetings offered by APLD, OLCA, OAN, and
the Regional Water Providers
Consortium. |
|
In 2005
and 2006 Michael served as President of the
Portland chapter of Oregon Landscape Contractors
Association (OLCA). During This time Michael and
the board changed the location of the chapter
meetings and started the ‘Round Table
Discussions’ with the APLD which has evolved
into greater communication and joint events with
the two organizations.
Design and
Constructing of outdoor spaces has always
intrigued Michael. Working as a team with
customers, designers/architects, engineers, and
skilled contractors to create beautiful spaces
brings great pleasure and personal satisfaction
to him. Many garden styles interest Michael
however water and the opportunities for
recycling and conservation in the landscape has
been a focus for a number of years, from E.T.
controllers & efficiency in irrigation design,
to captured rain water systems, to using
rainwater run for seasonal focal points.

Michael was
Featured in ‘Sunset’ Magazine Spring ‘07 for a
pond-less water fall created in the west hills
of Portland, showing how a little water can go a
long way and be low maintenance as well.
