Vanessa Nagel, APLD
has served for many
years as an officer of the Oregon Chapter of APLD. In
2009 she was the Chapter President as well as co-chair
of the APLD Local Site Committee that did the planning
for the 2009 Conference.
She is also the owner of Seasons Landscape Design, LLC,
offering garden design and consultation in Portland,
Oregon and greater Clark County, Washington.

Vanessa's
Bio:
As an award-winning interior and garden designer,
Vanessa has practiced design for nearly 30 years. With a
degree in Interior Design, a minor in Microbiology, and
post-graduate landscape design coursework, Vanessa
enjoys the design process through both sides of a window
and supports the design philosophies of integrating the
exterior with the interior as well as ‘finding the
common thread’ when ‘weaving’ a garden design.

Her work with
architectural firms in the San Francisco Bay
Area
and in the Portland/Vancouver area included
international and national projects prior to
opening Seasons Garden Design, LLC in
Vancouver, Washington five years ago.
Currently her projects are local and primarily
residential. She is APLD-certified and NCIDQ
(National Council for Interior Design
Qualification)-certified. Vanessa is a
professional member of the Oregon and
Washington Chapters of APLD and has served the
APLD Oregon Chapter board in many positions
including Chapter President.

The Sunset Magazine award-winning pebble
mosaic’s circular dragon (designed by Vanessa
and installed by pebble mosaic artist, Jeff
Bale) represents the circle of time and
surrounds the circle of thyme in the center of
the mosaic.

As a sustainability advocate,
Vanessa is a member of the USGBC (US Green
Building Council) and contributes to her
community as a member of the City of Vancouver's
Design Review Committee. She was a board member
for the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon for 4
years and a current member of HPSO and ANLD
(Association of Northwest Landscape Designers).
She was a professional member and Oregon-chapter
president of IIDA (International Interior Design
Association).
Vanessa has taught
as an adjunct faculty member
at Marylhurst University and Portland Community
College (Rock Creek Campus). Additionally, she
is a published writer and public speaker.
