Vanessa's Bio:
As an award-winning interior and garden designer, Vanessa has practiced design for nearly 30 years. With a degree in Interior Design, a minor in Microbiology, and post-graduate landscape design coursework, Vanessa enjoys the design process through both sides of a window and supports the design philosophies of integrating the exterior with the interior as well as ‘finding the common thread’ when ‘weaving’ a garden design.

Her work with architectural firms in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Portland/Vancouver area included international and national projects prior to opening Seasons Garden Design, LLC in Vancouver, Washington five years ago. Currently her projects are local and primarily residential. She is APLD-certified and NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification)-certified. Vanessa is a professional member of the Oregon and Washington Chapters of APLD and has served the APLD Oregon Chapter board in many positions including Chapter President.

The Sunset Magazine award-winning pebble mosaic’s circular dragon (designed by Vanessa and installed by pebble mosaic artist, Jeff Bale) represents the circle of time and surrounds the circle of thyme in the center of the mosaic.

As a sustainability advocate, Vanessa is a member of the USGBC (US Green Building Council) and contributes to her community as a member of the City of Vancouver's Design Review Committee. She was a board member for the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon for 4 years and a current member of HPSO and ANLD (Association of Northwest Landscape Designers). She was a professional member and Oregon-chapter president of IIDA (International Interior Design Association).

Vanessa has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Marylhurst University and Portland Community College (Rock Creek Campus). Additionally, she is a published writer and public speaker.
